Turkey stocks lower at close of trade; BIST 100 down 0.95%

Investing.com – Turkey stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Transport, Wholesale & Retail Trade and Basic Metals sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Istanbul, the BIST 100 lost 0.95%.

The best performers of the session on the BIST 100 were Peker Gayrimenkul Yatirim Ortakligi AS (IS:PEKGY), which rose 5.81% or 0.09 points to trade at 1.64 at the close. Meanwhile, Aselsan Elektronik Sanayi ve Ticaret AS (IS:ASELS) added 3.97% or 2.70 points to end at 70.75 and Gubre Fabrikalari TAS (IS:GUBRF) was up 3.38% or 9.25 points to 283.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Agrotech Yuksek Teknoloji ve Yatirim AS (IS:AGROT), which fell 9.96% or 1.26 points to trade at 11.39 at the close. Kardemir Karabuk Demir Celik Sanayi ve Ticaret AS Class D (IS:KRDMD) declined 4.08% or 1.22 points to end at 28.70 and Vestel Elektronik Sanayi ve Ticaret AS (IS:VESTL) was down 3.81% or 2.65 points to 66.85.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Istanbul Stock Exchange by 411 to 154 and 16 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.35% or 9.39 to $2,652.61 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.46% or 0.32 to hit $70.40 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.85% or 0.62 to trade at $73.81 a barrel.

USD/TRY was up 0.11% to 35.01, while EUR/TRY rose 0.10% to 36.72.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 106.74.
