Turkey stocks higher at close of trade; BIST 100 up 0.50%

Investing.com – Turkey stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Leasing & Factoring and Insurance sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Istanbul, the BIST 100 gained 0.50% to hit a new 1-month high.

The best performers of the session on the BIST 100 were Peker Gayrimenkul Yatirim Ortakligi AS (IS:PEKGY), which rose 9.87% or 0.54 points to trade at 6.01 at the close. Meanwhile, Kaleseramik Canakkale Kalebodur Seramik Sanayi AS (IS:KLSER) added 5.17% or 1.78 points to end at 36.20 and Oyak Cimento Fabrikalari AS (IS:OYAKC) was up 4.48% or 0.83 points to 19.34 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Emlak Konut Gayrimenkul Yatirim Ortakligi AS (IS:EKGYO), which fell 2.48% or 0.34 points to trade at 13.38 at the close. Agrotech Yuksek Teknoloji ve Yatirim AS (IS:AGROT) declined 2.11% or 0.29 points to end at 13.47 and Tofas Turk Otomobil Fabrikasi AS (IS:TOASO) was down 1.90% or 4.00 points to 206.50.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Istanbul Stock Exchange by 401 to 161 and 16 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.72% or 19.26 to $2,656.94 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.26% or 0.18 to hit $68.72 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.29% or 0.21 to trade at $72.52 a barrel.

USD/TRY was up 0.22% to 34.70, while EUR/TRY rose 0.59% to 36.73.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.31% at 105.96.
