Mexico stocks lower at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC down 1.25%

Investing.com – Mexico stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Industrials, Consumer Goods & Services and Consumer Staples sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC declined 1.25% to hit a new 1-month low.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Grupo Televisa SAB Unit (BMV:TLEVISACPO), which rose 14.17% or 1.22 points to trade at 9.83 at the close. Meanwhile, Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (BMV:PEOLES) added 3.93% or 12.00 points to end at 317.12 and Controladora Vuela Compania de Aviacion SAB de CV (BMV:VOLARA) was up 2.64% or 0.38 points to 14.76 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Grupo Bimbo, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:BIMBOA), which fell 4.41% or 2.86 points to trade at 62.00 at the close. Cemex SAB de CV (BMV:CEMEXCPO) declined 3.91% or 0.43 points to end at 10.58 and America Movil SAB de CV M (BMV:AMXB) was down 3.39% or 0.57 points to 16.23.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 116 to 107 and 18 ended unchanged.

Shares in Grupo Bimbo, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:BIMBOA) fell to 52-week lows; falling 4.41% or 2.86 to 62.00. Shares in Cemex SAB de CV (BMV:CEMEXCPO) fell to 52-week lows; down 3.91% or 0.43 to 10.58.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.14% or 31.40 to $2,787.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.16% or 0.11 to hit $67.49 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.03% or 0.02 to trade at $71.00 a barrel.

USD/MXN was up 0.05% to 20.06, while EUR/MXN fell 0.04% to 21.70.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 104.13.
