Mexico stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC up 0.66%

Investing.com – Mexico stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Industrials, Consumer Goods & Services and Consumer Staples sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC rose 0.66% to hit a new 1-month high.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Wal Mart de Mexico SAB de CV (BMV:WALMEX), which rose 3.19% or 1.71 points to trade at 55.29 at the close. Meanwhile, Genomma Lab Internacional SAB De CV (BMV:LABB) added 2.69% or 0.72 points to end at 27.48 and Controladora Vuela Compania de Aviacion SAB de CV (BMV:VOLARA) was up 2.60% or 0.44 points to 17.39 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacifico SAB De CV Class B (BMV:GAPB), which fell 3.22% or 12.68 points to trade at 381.11 at the close. Grupo Aeroportuario Del Sureste (BMV:ASURB) declined 1.72% or 9.75 points to end at 555.64 and Kimberly – Clark De Mexico A (BMV:KIMBERA) was down 1.67% or 0.49 points to 28.83.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 100 to 44 and 17 ended unchanged.

Shares in Genomma Lab Internacional SAB De CV (BMV:LABB) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 2.69% or 0.72 to 27.48.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.61% or 16.90 to $2,731.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.29% or 1.00 to hit $76.39 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 1.15% or 0.93 to trade at $79.86 a barrel.

USD/MXN was down 1.28% to 20.51, while EUR/MXN rose 0.07% to 21.36.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.17% at 107.92.
