Mexico stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC up 0.52%

Investing.com – Mexico stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Industrials, Consumer Goods & Services and Consumer Staples sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC gained 0.52%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Arca Continental , S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:AC), which rose 3.26% or 5.60 points to trade at 177.33 at the close. Meanwhile, Wal Mart de Mexico SAB de CV (BMV:WALMEX) added 3.14% or 1.63 points to end at 53.52 and Alfa, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:ALFAA) was up 2.60% or 0.38 points to 14.99 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Controladora Vuela Compania de Aviacion SAB de CV (BMV:VOLARA), which fell 2.62% or 0.43 points to trade at 15.97 at the close. Grupo Financiero Banorte (BMV:GFNORTEO) declined 1.85% or 2.65 points to end at 140.50 and Grupo Mexico, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:GMEXICOB) was down 1.66% or 1.73 points to 102.32.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 163 to 66 and 18 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.36% or 36.35 to $2,711.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.68% or 1.18 to hit $71.28 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.27% or 0.94 to trade at $75.17 a barrel.

USD/MXN was up 0.08% to 20.42, while EUR/MXN fell 0.51% to 21.28.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.50% at 107.46.
