India stocks lower at close of trade; Nifty 50 down 0.90%

Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Consumer Durables and Public Sector Undertakings sectors led shares lower.

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.90% to hit a new 1-month low, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.83%.

The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were ITC Ltd (NS:ITC), which rose 2.25% or 10.60 points to trade at 482.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Axis Bank Ltd (NS:AXBK) added 1.88% or 22.00 points to end at 1,189.35 and Britannia Industries Ltd (NS:BRIT) was up 1.02% or 57.00 points to 5,669.40 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK), which fell 18.63% or 238.45 points to trade at 1,041.60 at the close. Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL) declined 4.83% or 136.75 points to end at 2,693.45 and Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) was down 4.71% or 15.15 points to 306.30.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which rose 2.24% to 482.40, Axis Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was up 1.85% to settle at 1,189.60 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which gained 0.96% to close at 2,527.00.

The worst performers were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was down 18.79% to 1,038.60 in late trade, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which lost 3.56% to settle at 2,727.35 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which was down 3.01% to 3,339.40 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 2150 to 339 and 85 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2941 fell and 814 advanced, while 76 ended unchanged.

Shares in IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) fell to 52-week lows; falling 18.63% or 238.45 to 1,041.60. Shares in IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) fell to 52-week lows; falling 18.79% or 240.30 to 1,038.60.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 4.08% to 14.54.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.64% or 17.70 to $2,731.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.76% or 0.53 to hit $70.72 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.69% or 0.51 to trade at $74.89 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.01% to 84.08, while EUR/INR unchanged 0.00% to 91.03.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 103.91.
