Greece stocks higher at close of trade; Athens General Composite up 0.95%

Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Banking, Construction and Travel sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite rose 0.95% to hit a new 5-year high.

The best performers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Aktor Symmetochon Technikon kai Energoiakon Ergon AE (AT:INCr), which rose 5.39% or 0.27 points to trade at 5.28 at the close. Meanwhile, Premia AE (AT:PREMr) added 3.52% or 0.04 points to end at 1.29 and Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr) was up 2.78% or 0.12 points to 4.43 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Papoutsanis Industrial and Commercial of Consumer Goods SA (AT:PSALr), which fell 1.95% or 0.05 points to trade at 2.52 at the close. Interlife General Insurance Company SA (AT:INLIFr) declined 1.09% or 0.05 points to end at 4.55 and Holding Company ADMIE IPTO SA (AT:ADMr) was down 0.92% or 0.03 points to 2.68.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 85 to 35 and 23 ended unchanged.

Shares in Premia AE (AT:PREMr) rose to 52-week highs; up 3.52% or 0.04 to 1.29. Shares in Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr) rose to 3-years highs; rising 2.78% or 0.12 to 4.43.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.86% or 23.74 to $2,788.74 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.19% or 0.14 to hit $74.48 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.01% or 0.01 to trade at $78.28 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.93% to 1.05, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.02% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.67% at 107.14.
