Investing.com – Australia stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

The best performers of the session on the were Qantas Airways Ltd (ASX:), which rose 3.44% or 0.26 points to trade at 7.82 at the close. Meanwhile, Steadfast Group Ltd (ASX:) added 2.78% or 0.15 points to end at 5.55 and JB Hi-Fi Ltd (ASX:) was up 2.60% or 2.05 points to 80.87 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Mineral Resources Ltd (ASX:), which fell 4.96% or 1.88 points to trade at 35.99 at the close. Appen Ltd (ASX:) declined 4.43% or 0.09 points to end at 1.94 and Omni Bridgeway Ltd (ASX:) was down 4.00% or 0.04 points to 0.97.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 551 to 546 and 454 ended unchanged.

AUD/USD was unchanged 0.06% to 0.67, while AUD/JPY rose 0.56% to 101.53.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 103.97.
